Eastbourne Borough Council Sign EIBS Content Management Specialists

Eastbourne Borough Council is the latest in a long line of local authorities to invest in the EasySite™ Content Management System from EIBS.

Initially developed for Leicester City Council, EasySite™ CMS has been meeting content management requirements of local authorities for the past 5 years.

The solution enables non-technical members of staff to create and manage websites, intranets and extranets, which fully adhere to government guidelines regarding accessibility, compliance and interoperability.

Eastbourne Borough Council have invested in the Community version of the solution, which will power both eatbourne.gov.uk and a new site eastbournehomes.org.uk from a single copy of the solution.

“Throughout the tender process we were very impressed by the usability of the EasySite™ CMS product and we consider the accessibility of the product itself to be a great asset. We plan to make the CMS available to users outside the council as part of the community websites project, and an accessible CMS is therefore essential.” remarks Henry Branson, Web Development Manager, Eastbourne Borough Council

Originally the website was largely static HTML and therefore managed by technical members of staff. Now the council can delegate responsibility of the website to specific individuals or departments whilst publication can be controlled by Site Administrators via the integrated workflow functionality.  This has proved to be an extremely effective way of managing local authority websites as both the quality and timeliness of content is improved, aiding councils in the delivery of better services on-line.

The new websites are due to go live in November 2005 after existing content has been migrated and a new design developed.

David Walsh, Local Authority Sales Consultant comments; “We are thrilled that Eastbourne have chosen EasySite™ CMS to manage their websites, they are one of the first local authority clients to benefit from EasySite™ auto categorisation functionality, which integrates with category lists such as the Local Government Category List (LGCL) and automatically categorises pages, this is proving extremely popular within this marketplace".
